Mint Chocolate Snaps

2/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup chocolate chips, melted and cooled
1 egg
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 tsp. peppermint extract
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
About 1/3 cup sugar

    Beat shortening at medium speed with an electric mixer; gradually add 3/4 cup sugar, beating well.  Add melted chocolate, egg, corn syrup, and flavorings; beat well.  Combine flour, soda, and salt; stir into chocolate mixture.
    Shape dough into 1-inch balls, and roll in 1/3 cup sugar; place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.  Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes.
