Jolly Jumbo Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup shortening

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. cloves

1/2 tsp. ginger

3 cups quick-cooking oats

Cream shortening and sugars till fluffy. Add eggs and continue beating. Add vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and ginger together and add gradually to cream mixture. Stir in oatmeal. Place dough on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 8-9 minutes until light brown.

Can add raisins, chocolate chips, or GUMDROPS, to dough and bake as directed.
