Tomato French Bread Lasagna

Tomato French Bread Lasagna        Eunice Pace

1 loaf french bread, sliced and toasted

4-5 tomatoes, cut into thick slices

Olive oil

Pasley

Basil

Oregano

4 cups shredded Mozarrella cheese, divided

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, diced

4 Tbs. butter

2-3 Tbs. flour

4 cups milk

Salt and pepper to taste

Line bottom of 13x9 pan with french bread.  Line french bread with sliced tomatoes, depending on size of tomatoes, you may need more than 5.  Drizzle olive oil over tomatoes and sprinkle with basil, oregano, and parsley with desired amount.

In skillet brown ground beef with diced onion, drain and spread over seasoned tomatoes.  Cover ground beef with 2 cups cheese.  In same skillet make the white sauce.  Melt butter, mix in flour then add milk, salt and pepper and stir until thickened.  Note:  I make my white sauce a bit runny so that it will seep through when I pour it over meat mixture, or you can make the white sauce thick enough to just cover the meat.  Spread remaining cheese over white sauce.  Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes.  ( you want it bubbling on sides and a golden brown on top)  Serves 8
